Chris Wetherell, the lead developer of Twitter's infamous Retweet feature says he regrets making it. He stated that it's 'like giving a four-year-old child a loaded gun,'

Wetherell ushered in the feature at Twitter's headquarters in San Francisco, California sometime back in 2009. At the time, he felt that the re-tweet button would help underrepresented communities get their message out. Before the feature was added to Twitter, people would simply copy and paste someone's message and add the "RT" letters in front.

Unfortunately, it also helps to spread misinformation and outrage among netizens. He started witnessing "Twitter mobs" rallying up behind different causes.
