Disney Missed Out on $2.7 Million For Not Releasing Baby Yoda Toys

It's no surprise that many Star Wars fans are in love with "The Child" AKA "Baby Yoda" from Disney+'s The Mandalorian

Just how popular is Baby Yoda? Well, fans on Amazon have searched for 'Baby Yoda' about 90,000 a month since the show premiered in November and is more popular than many politicians. The show itself was searched more than 126,000 times.

According to a report released by Jungle Scout, Disney may have missed out on (at least) $2,700,000 in revenue for not having many Baby Yoda merchandise in stores this holiday season. To be fair, Disney DID release some apparel with the young Yoda-like creature on it. FUNKO will have some Baby Yoda figurines next year as well for around $12.99.

Luckily, Disney is adding an 11" plush doll to their merch lineup sometime around March for $24.99. Until then, fans will have to find unofficial 'Baby Yoda' creations on Etsy.

So why did Disney keep 'Baby Yoda' on the hush by not pre-releasing toys beforehand like they usually do with Star Wars movies?

Rumor is, show creator Jon Favreau decided to keep the character a secret at all costs until the show premiered on Disney+.

SPOILER ALERT: Baby Yoda is NOT Yoda at all and is actually 50-years-old.
