Review: Before watching this remake, I faintly remembered the 1976 version. But afterwards, I must say that I preferred the older one than this one. For those who are not familiar with the story, Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a high school outcast who lives a very sheltered and religious life as her mother (Julianne Moore) intended. What’s unqiue about Carrie is that she has the supernatural power of telekinesis. She eventually learns to control her power; however, she unleashes her wrath when she is publicly embarrassed at her senior prom. I am such a huge fan of Moretz, but I just didn’t see her embody Carrie at all. Her look was all wrong for the part. The few things I did enjoy about this movie was Julianne Moore’s outstanding performance as the wacko mother and showing the effects of cyber bullying with the advancements of today’s technologies, which has been proven to be a really big social issue.
I give Carrie one thumb down. I’m not a fan of scary movies at all, so I was expecting to be scared when watching this. However, it didn’t even faze me.
