A new survey by the National Retail Federation reveals that the average person will spend $130.97 on Valentine's Day. That's up from $126.03 in 2012. Other findings:

- Men will spend an average of $175.61 on jewelry, flowers and a romantic evening out, while women will spend approximately $88.78

- 19.7% of people plan to purchase jewelry for Valentine's Day

- 51% of people plan to purchase candy for Valentine's Day

- 36% of people plan to purchase flowers for Valentine's Day

- 15% of people plan to purchase clothing for Valentine's Day

- According to CreditDonkey.com, only 49% of people want to receive dinner, while 30% want chocolates and 20% want flowers. Only 8% plan to give gift cards, while 15% want to receive cards. Only 7% plan to offer electronics, while 20% want to receive electronics

A new survey by CreditDonkey.com reveals that men plan to spend $84.39 on Valentine's Day while women will spend $48.13. Other findings:

- 59% of people plan to spend the same amount as they did last year on Valentine's Day. 23% plan to spend more while only 18% plan to spend less.

- 65% plan to give dinner, only 49% want to receive dinner

- 38% plan to give chocolates, only 30% want to receive chocolates

- 37% plan to give flowers, only 20% want to receive flowers

- 8% plan to give gift cards, 15% want to receive gift cards

- 7% plan to give electronics, 20% want to receive electronics

- 5% plan to give travel, 9% want to receive travel


Differences in gender:

- 15% of males plan to spend less this year, compared to nearly 23% of females who plan to spend less.

- More males plan to give flowers (57% of males compared to 8% of female respondents).

- More males plan to give jewelry (17% of males compared to 4% of female respondents).

- More females plan to give clothes (13% of females compared to 6% of male respondents).

- More females plan to give electronics (13% of females compared to 3% of male respondents).

- More females plan to give gift cards (10% of females compared to 6% of male respondents).

A new survey by Money Talks News reveals that 11.7% of people want candy for Valentine's Day. Other findings:

- 16.9% of women and 13.8% of men want jewelry for Valentine's Day

- 16.4% of people want flowers for Valentine's Day. A dozen long-stemmed roses will cost about $80 on Valentine’s Day, compared to $62 the rest of the year, according to the Society of American Florists.

- 28.7% of men and 19.8% of women want a gift certificate for Valentine's Day

- 30.2% of men and 34.4% of women want a romantic date for Valentine's Day
