Yesterday, I posted some pics of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle bobble head I attempted to make as part of my Halloween costume. If you missed it CLICK HERE. Anyway, last night I tried to make Raphael's weapons. I have no clue what they even were but I looked online and it looked like some sort of pitch fork or something.
To go along with my whole bobble head cartoon-like theme I had going on, I decided to make my weapons WAY OVERSIZED! I got some cardboard and drew out the shape of the weapons. And then I used masking tape for the top of the weapon and red construction paper for the bottom part of the weapon. Oh I also attached a big long ruler (randomly my uncles had them) to create more support so they don't bend during the night. You can just glue/tape two pieces of construction paper together if you don't randomly have large rulers laying around your house lol.
And there you go!! Ha!
I searched EVERYWHERE for green shorts and I couldn't find any anywhere! So what I finally decided to do was grab some old workout shorts and cover them in the left over green duct tape I had left over from the mask.
MAJOR TIP: Do not tape the sides of the shorts. Being the smart one that I am, at first I just wrapped the duct tape completely around the shorts. The only problem was that when I went to put my shorts on I couldn't even pull them up past my knees. The duct tape had shrunk my shorts!! Ha!! I ended up slitting the tape up the sides of my shorts and I'm just going to reapply the tape AFTER I put my shorts on lol. I also made the rest of the red accessories with the left over felt I had from the mask.
And then of course I had to try everything on for a fun pic! HA! So now I just need to put it all together and add a couple last minute details. Oh and I'm waiting for my green socks and shell to come in the mail today. It better get here!
