TOP SIX PLACES FOR TRICK-OR-TREATING IN SAN DIEGO
......ACCORDING TO US !
This quiet section of La Jolla is the perfect environment for families who want a fun trick-or-treating experience. There's even tons of decorated shops that probably give out candy as well along La Jolla Blvd. You can even make your way into the gated communities for easy trick-or-or treating without getting lost or long walks. However, the residents of Bird Rock stop handing out candy around 8pm, so arrive early and grab your candy before it's gone!
Another small-town community for trick-or-treating is Kensington! Homes along Edgeware and Canterbury Drive tend to get backed up with lines, so most trick-or-treaters start near the Starbucks on Adams and Marlborough. Parking can get a little hectic, so show up early!
If you're looking for over the top decorations, Mission Hills is the spot! It's filled with ghoulish goblins, monsters, and creepy crawlies every turn. Reports have shown that up to 500 tricker -or- treaters show up to their door. This neighborhood isn't the best for the little ones, but for families with older kids will have a blast right off Sunset Boulevard.
Military housing complexes are some of best spots to go trick-or-treating. A high density of families means tons of kids in costume and family fun. I've heard Murphy Canyon is the best spot on base!!
If you are looking for the BEST candy, the suburban streets of Carmel Mountain is where it's at. You can even head to Carmel Mountain Plaza to find Halloween Activities for the family. Participating merchants hand out candy from 3pm to 5pm and there's even live music!
Instead of receiving candy, would you rather receive MONEY? I'm serious, head over to the neighborhoods in Scripps Ranch. There's even an annual event at Scripps Ranch Marketplace that offers fun rides, store treats, and more!

October 2013 - Halloween arrives on Thursday this year and downtown Encinitas merchants will be handing out treats to all the costumed kids who participate in DEMA's annual Safe Trick or Treat. With the help of the Self-Realization Fellowship and the 101 Artists's Colony, downtown becomes a something of a Pumpkin Lane, a safe and fun environment for families to enjoy.
Each year, the monks of Self-Realization Fellowship, grow the pumpkins above Coast Hwy 101 that they then carve with beautiful and whimsical designs. The pumpkins are displayed throughout downtown and never cease to amaze passsers-by. SRF also presents the Queen's Court at their bookstore's parking lot. The Queen grants wishes to the children who enter her court.
The 101 Artists Colony will have games and music by Bucket Ruckus in the courtyard of the Lumberyard.
If I'm missing any, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add them to the list.
