A nationwide study conducted by MissTravel.com found that Las Vegas was SDSU’s number one Spring Break Destination. 81% of those surveyed said they went to a different country in order to drink legally. Spring Breakers spend approximately $1,100 for the week, while the average generous member on the website spends $3,300 for trips within the United States or Mexico.

More than 1,125,000 college students load into carpools, buses, and planes for the month of March in the pursuit of nothing but a good time, also known as Spring Break. Destination-dating website, MissTravel.com polled over 58,900 of its college student membership to reveal the Top 10 Most Popular Spring Break Destinations per College.

“Spring Break has become increasingly more difficult to plan due to the current state of our economy,” says MissTravel.com Founder and CEO, Brandon Wade. “Financial aid and grants for the quarter have dwindled down, leaving Spring Breakers to use the last of their reserves on the whole trip.”

According to the study, the Top 10 Spring Break Destinations for students attending San Diego State University were:

1. Las Vegas, NV

2. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

3. Santa Barbara, CA

4. Miami, Florida

5. Cancun, Mexico

6. Lake Havasu, AZ

7. Barcelona, Spain

8. Amsterdam, Netherlands

9. Jamaica

10. Palm Springs, CA

“UCSD are looking for variety—something they can’t find in San Diego,” says Wade. “Destinations like Las Vegas and Jamaica are great because it treats them to good weather, but also offers activities you wouldn’t find in California.”
