The sneaker is making an epic comeback this fall/winter 2012. While visiting New York City last week, I saw fashionista after fashionista strutting the streets and subways from SoHo to the Bronx to the Upper East Side in either a pair of classic Converse or Euro-rocker brand Ash Bowies. It was a refreshing change from the button-up, couture vibe that is often associated with The Big Apple. For fall/winter 2012 the sneaker is a perfect juxtaposition of functional and fashionable.
The Chuck Taylor
There is nothing like a pair of roughed up Converse (aka Chucks). End of story. This shoe takes me back to my bubble gum chewing days, yet nothing about it says outdated or juvenile. I adore these studded Tommy Studded Chucks (above) exclusively sold by Free People, or customize your own on the create sectionof the Converse website. Candice Lake went monochromatic for Fashion Week and topped off her outfit with a pair of Chucks, in white of course.
Ash + Bowie
Sneaker meet heel. Heel meet sneaker. Even two months ago I would have scoffed if someone told me a wedge sneaker is not only wearable, but fashionable. Somehow the Europeans always make it work. The Ash Bowie Wedge Sneaker comes in an endless amount of colors and patterns. There’s no doubt you’ll found the right pair for you. Lucy Liu styled her Ash Bowies (right) with an oversized trench and satchel for a great on-the-go fall look. Find great other great ways to style your Ash Bowie’s at Free People.
