Girl with 'Batman Mask' Birthmark Gets $60K Donation to Get it Removed

Nine-month-old Luna got an anonymous $60,000 donation to fly to Russia to have the 'Batman mask' birthmark surgically removed.

Luna was born with melanocytic naevus, a skin condition that leaves a dark birthmark. After her parents started a GoFundMe to raise $200,000 for the life-changing photodynamic treatment, an anonymous donor from Russia covered the remainder of the bill for Luna and her mother, Carol Fenner, 36, to fly to Krasnodar, Russia from Florida for the treatment with Dr Pavel Popov.

The treatment consists of doctors injecting a substance into the patient's birthmark area. The drug causes the skin tissue to die and form a crust where new skin forms underneath. Lasers are then used to finish the details of the process. Luna's treatment is a combination of 8 separate sessions over 1 and a half years, each costing around $25,000.
